Conventions of a typical school or college magazine

For a school magazine, a photo it one of the main conventions as it suggests what is going to be in the magazine which will more than likely be backedup by the title. Pictures are useful because they catch people's attention as well as making the magazine look more colourful and interesting.

The heading is used to tell us who the magazine's wanted target audience is for example: 'Secondary Teachers' is obviously aimed at teachers and wouldn't attract a teenager to go out and buy it.

Sub headings are used on magazine's to tell anyone that buys it what else is in the magazine and not just the main topic. The bright colours and bold fonts are also another way of attracting people and getting them to buy the magazine.

The date is used to tell us what issue the magazine is and when it was bought out.
