Textual analysis --> Music Magazine Double Page Spread

This is a double page spread from a music magazine of Lily Allen. It is a typical double page spread with a heading, photograph and article.
The title looks like someone has cut out letters from a newspaper, it could be because Lily is in the newspapers quite often. It looks like newspaper clippings because it is in upper case and is white writing on a black background. Some of the letters look like they are lower case but they are just small capital letters. This is another reason why it looks like newspaper clippings.

Lily Allen is shown wearing a red check shirt which makes her look fashionable but like a normal person not a pop star that is followed by paparazzi. I think the idea was to show that she is your stereotypical artist instead it shows a down to earth person. The red stands out as the rest of the page is black and white. The red is also used in the caption before the article. Words that they wanted to stand out are in bold, twice the size and red, this draws your eye to them immediately. The photograph is large taking up half of the spread, this get the readers attention.

This double page spread is in some ways not conventional. Usually double page spreads have more then one image. They have the main image and a few sub-images. Another reason why it is an unconventional double page spread is because  there are no important quotes taken from the article and made larger.
